Below are a few highlights of CFF activities for your review:

• Tom Dillon and I attended the Superintendents' and Principals' Forum "21st Century Skills: Extending the Learning" on November 3rd. CFF Board member and Superintendent, Coronado Unified, Jeff Felix announced to the attendees the 2009 Innovation in Education Awards program scheduled for May 14, 2009 on the USS Midway.

• CFF is working closely with Kerry Zurier, consultant, to develop an implementation proposal for the Governance and Development Plan to submit to The San Diego Foundation. The proposal highlights the action steps that support the governance structure and resource development activities.

• I meet with select JRRTC Sr. Directors to discuss the CASBO (California Association of School Business Officials) alert on the Governors announcement that the current year deficit is more than $11.2 billion. The attached newsbreak outlines the serious nature of the implications for public schools.
